Alexander Henry, a 19-year-old resident of Wells, Vermont, was arraigned on five felony counts each of possession and promotion of child sexual abuse materials. The charges follow an investigation by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) in cooperation with the Newport, New Hampshire Police Department.
During his appearance at the Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, Henry pleaded not guilty. Judge Cortland Corsones set conditions for his release that prohibit him from contacting minors, having unsupervised contact with a minor sibling, and accessing the internet or devices connected to it.
The VT-ICAC investigates cases involving child sexual exploitation online and provides forensic services, technical support, law enforcement training, and public education.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) serves as a national reporting system for suspected online child exploitation. Reports can be made through their 24-hour call center at 1-800-843-5678 or via their website at https://report.cybertip.org. NCMEC also offers resources for those recovering from child sexual exploitation such as emotional support and help removing content from the internet. More information is available at https://www.missingkids.org/gethelpnow/csam-resources or by calling their hotline.
The Attorney General’s Office stated: “Every child deserves a safe childhood.” The office also reminded the public that anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
